Write it Down and Make a Plan
Writing down your to-do list is always the first step to getting through your projects. Why is writing it down so important?
Writing your to-do list helps you remember the home decor projects to complete. How often after writing a do list down have you realized you have forgotten some projects?
The next benefit is seeing your home decorating to-do list on paper is it often helps reduce stress. I find trying to remember everything I want to do just in my head is my more stressful.
When you put the pen to paper and write it down you may realize you have less to do than you thought. Once your to-do list is on paper you can stop stressing about forgetting a project.

Get Your List Organized
The next step is to reorganize your to-do list in a way to help you make a plan to accomplish everything on it. Reorganize each decorating project from easiest to hardest to complete. On the worksheet use the second list to do this step.
Why it is important to organize your list this way? Because this will be your road map to conquer your to-do list.
A plan is extremely important if you want to complete or do a home decorating projects. A quote I heard which applies to getting stuff done in your home is, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.”
I recommend completing your project list from easiest to hardest because getting those easy projects done will help complete the harder projects.
Benefits of Doing Easy Decorating Projects First
For me these are the benefits when I complete the easy projects first:
- Quickly finishing some easy tasks gives me motivation to complete the harder tasks.
- Once all my easy decorating projects are done, I can then focus all my attention of longer projects.
- I avoid being frustrated when nothing is getting done.
Take Action
Now that your decorating to-do list is organized, it is now time to take action and crossing project off. Start with the first projects on your list and work your way through that list.
Before you know you will be quickly check things off your to-do list. By half way through your list, you may start seeing a transformation in your home. I know I have and I hope you will as well.
Still Can’t Find Time
Don’t feel like you have to push your way to completing every decorating project. If you try you may experience some burnout. I recommend a slow and at steady approach to finishing your to-do list.
If you are finding it hard to find time to work on a project that is totally normal. Especially when you are balancing work, family and time to rest. I have this difficulty often.
Often the best way to maintain the momentum going on your home project is to do a little bit each day. Even spending 15-minutes a day on a home decorating project will lead to success in accomplishing your list.
Display Your To-Do List
Display your to-do list some in your home where you will see it everyday. This will act as a reminder to work on completing the tasks on the list and motivation to start. The biggest thing to get through your home decorating is to START!
